Customer Question

I am taking iron for diagnosed anemia. I also have been exhausted, shaky, cold a.m. and hot p.m. and unable to even go for a walk without extreme weakness and vomiting since I had flu 8 weeks ago. My BP sits at between 110/70 and 125/85. When I stood up after some light gardening today I felt so unwell I took my BP and got a reading of 156/146. It came down within 10 mins. Should I be concerned?

This is Dr. DavidI am sorry you are not feeling well.it is very common for your blood pressure to shoot up or drop when you change body positions like stand up suddenly or lay down suddenlyyou should ask your doctor for more blood testing to check for viral infections like mononucleosis which can cause severe fatiguealsoyou need testing to check your thyroid hormone levels.you could be going through early menopause which can cause hot flashes and cold spells as well.you might benefit from drinking more fluids to help your blood pressure. dehydration can cause you to feel dizzy and light headed if you stand up too quicklylet me know if you have questions .
