I have put an icepack on my right p in the lower portion

Resolved Question:

I have put an icepack on my right hip in the lower portion with out cloth. I dont remember exact time as it was 5 weeks back. Initially the area was hard and cold. I have now noticed that area has turned black but its soft and there is no pain. But feels a little raw or sensitive when i touch it or when i sit on it. I can sesnse the touch all around though

This is Dr. David

you could have caused some frost bite damage to your skin by leaving the ice pack on your skin for too long if the skin there has turned black

you should see a doctor about it and see if you may have caused some frost bite freezing damage to your skin.

that is good you can sense touch around the area

that means the nerves are still intact

do you have a doctor you can see about this?

that could be an area of frost bite.

it doesn't look too bad

it could continue to heal on its own

the skin could peel

if it does, you may need some special antibiotic ointment like silver sulfasalazine cream or antibiotic ointment to prevent skin infection.

you should still see a doctor about it

next time you use an ice pack, you should wrap it in a towel so it doesn't freeze burn your skin

Expert:  Dr. David replied 11 months ago.

I don't think you have sustained any permanent damage.

you still have nerve sensation there

so you didn't damage your nerves

your skin will most likely peel and heal after that.

and new skin will grow into the area.

you don't have gangrene.
