Female 66.Have rheumatoid arthritis and low iron for many years now .Is there any need for further tests ?All
Other bloods ok. Hemaglobin level is 9.8I think the dr think as I have arthritis and have has low iron for 10 years now there is nothing else going on

Do you know what is your TIBC test result like?

(total iron binding capacity)?

If the iron is low and the TIBC is also low and the ferritin is high then the most likely cause of your low iron is actually due to rheumatoid arthritis itself.

This can actually happen due to any chronic disease.

So I think that your problem i.e. low iron could be related to your rheumatoid arthritis.
