I recently had CT scan due to headaches and minor memory

Resolved Question:

I recently had CT scan due to headaches and minor memory issues, my GP advised that at 55 I have the brain of an 80 year old and referred to cerebral atrophy. I have asked for a referral to see a Neurologist and he reluctantly agreed only when I advised him I have private health insurance. Am I panicking for nothing or am I right to see a professional in this field

No family history of dementia, 6 years ago I was seriously ill and had 4 major surgeries in 7 months. At the time I had septicaemia and a fungal infection which damaged my kidneys and a fungal infection which damaged my sight in one eye
