I have a lesion on my upper R thigh for as long as I can

Resolved Question:

I have a lesion on my upper R thigh for as long as I can remember, at first it was 1mm. In the last 2-3 months is has been getting darker in colour and bigger in size (now 5mm) The lesion has irregular black center and irregular brown border, became slightly raised and itchy at times. Couldit be melanoma?

I don't think this is melanoma at all

get it checked in person but I think you are good

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I did, I went to my GP and he told me it looks suspicious and referred me to hospital for 2ww he said it could be melanoma. I work in a dermatology department and I Asked one of the dermatology consultants I work with and he told me, to have it removed, it looks like melanoma. I was worried thats why I wanted a third opinion. Are you sure it's nothing for me to worry about?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 11 months ago.

It doesn't look suspicious to me but it is always harder to tell in pictures than in person

If a dermatologist at your hospital to you to have it removed then do that

an online consult doesn't replace an in person visit

I know you said its fine and I will have it removed even if it's not cancerous. But if it was melanoma do you think it's at a early stage?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 11 months ago.

Yes I would say it is likely In SITU

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
After it's been removed, what are the chances of it coming back?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 11 months ago.

unlikely

slim to none

perfect. Thank you so much for your answers. I feel reassured now. I'm twin sister had cancer (leukemia). I was really worried I might have cancer too. But hopefully everything will be okay.

Hi dr,My little sister has 6-7 large lesions on her back, raised, sore, itchy, swollen, she says they are causing pain in her underarms. She only noticed them this morning when she woke up. She is 9 years old.
