Expert:  Dr. D. Love replied 1 year ago.

Hello. The moderator has opened the question again.

The other expert asked whether you have tried counseling and meds and you replied yes, but it is unclear whether the yes was specifically regarding the medicines. Or was it also referring to the counseling?

If you have had counseling, do you know what type of counseling was tried?

Expert:  Dr. D. Love replied 1 year ago.

I had asked for clarification about whether counseling has been done and if so, what type of counseling. Since I have not heard back, I will first comment upon options for medicines.

When treating anxiety/panic or depression, one of the primary considerations when medicines have not helped is to try different medicines that are in a different chemical class. Given what you have already tried, it may help to use a tricyclic antidepressant, such as amitrptyline. Bupropion is also in a unique chemical class, but is usually better for depression than for anxiety. There also is another medicine that works primarily for anxiety, called buspirone.
