Resolved Question:

Hi,
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have a sore throat, I've got visible septic spots on my tonsils. I have taken paracetamol a couple of times when my temp has gone above 38c. Is there anything else I can do or take?
Thanks.

Dear customer,

Thanks for your question.

Please rest your voice. Drink adequate fluids to prevent dehydration and also to keep your throat moist. Also warm liquids such as warm water with honey can soothe a sore throat. A saltwater gargle with warm salt water will relieve the symptoms of sore throat. You may humidify the air or sit several minutes in a steamy bathroom and this may help since this will prevent irritation of sore throat caused by dry air.

If your doctor confirms that this may be due to bacterial infection after investigations then you may need to take an antibiotic.

Take care.
