My son touched a dead rat in the garden, he said he put his fingers in the rats mouth and was stoking it, im really worried he has caught something, I didn't see what happened until he told me there was a rat...when I removed it, it was covered in maggots!

Very unlikely he caught anything if you washed his hands afterward.

It happened a few hours ago and he's eaten since, I did call the doctor and she said there's nothing that can be done until he gets ill I've been reading on line and it says lots if diseases from handling dead rodents that's why I'm worried
