What about them little whit bits on ma tonsils I did hv a white bit were dangly bit was and have been gargling salt water but it has went
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That what it was like
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

those white bits are not from thrush.

they are from dried mucous

or small bits of food caught on your tonsil crypts

you can gargle with salt water once or twice a day. that is fine

but you don't have thrush.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh so that wasn't thrush the white but were dangly bit was I thought it looked like thrush
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

no, it is not thrush.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh ryt so them white bits were thrush so any idea why they occur how do you tell the difference from that to thrush
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

a doctor can tell what is thrush or not.

I am a doctor

I have seen thrush in the mouth.

those white bits are dried mucus or food caught in the tonsilar crypts.

it is not thrush

thrush coats your tongue and throat and can be scraped off by a tongue depressor

and under a microscope looks like yeast and yeast spores.

you need medical training to know this

you don't have thrush on your tonsils

if you want to continue to gargle with salt water twice a day, that is fine.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just one more thing so my doctor is mistaken
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

your doctor told you that you had thrush on your tonsils?

why didn't your doctor then prescribe you thrush oral medications?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No he sed the white bits were my dangly bit is was thrush
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

then he should have given you antifungal thrush medication if he thought it was thrush.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh ryt he didn't prescribe anything what would you suggest nystatin? Does that have any serious side effects?
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

if didn't prescribe you anything, then he really didn't think you had thrush in your throat.

it doesn't make any sense if he didn't prescribe you anything if he really though you had thrush

I know you don't have thrush

you don't need nystatin.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you he just sed use salt water and that should clear it up
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

that is fine to gargle with salt water

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It looks like if a had it it's gone do you suggest gargling for another couple of days to make sure it's gone all together
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

it is not thrush.

you will get mucus and food back in your tonsilar crypts again in the future.

you can gargle with salt water whenever you want to.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi I went back to the doctors as I had more white spots and he sed it was thrush do he perscribed me daktarin I have been using it since Friday all the spots disappeared on saterday and some websites say to use it for 2 days after symptoms have cleared how long would you recommend I take it for
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

daktarin is a pill for you or swish and swallow mouth wash?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It's the oral gel
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

how many times a day are you using it?

usually you have to use oral antifungal rinses 4 times a day, usually for 1 week after the thrush is cleared to make sure it doesn't come back.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
4 times a day I used it once on Thursday beacause I didn't get it till late Thursday night and I've been using it for 4 times a day
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

keep doing that.

use it for 5-7 days after the thrush disappears to make sure it is all gone.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you and I was a bit worried about it causing me to have a allergic reaction to it but I haven't had any gives or anything so does that mean I will be fine to use it again if needs be and I won't have an allergic reaction
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

you haven't had any reaction to it so far

you won't get an allergic reaction.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can use it with my mind put at ease beacuse I haven't had any side effects so I can be sure I won't have a reaction now ?
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, you can put your mind at ease.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

you are welcome.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, you can have an alcoholic drink 24 hours after stopping the antifungal medication.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you and it won't interact
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

you are welcome

you will be fine.

it won't interact.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

you are welcome.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can you take paracetamol with daktarin
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, you can.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Still quite worried about having an allergic reaction to daktarin even tho I have used it 4 times a day for 7 days I'm working that if I ever need to take it again I would have a reaction is that stupid
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

your anxiety symptoms are getting out of control with this worry.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi I used my daktarin for 1 week and sometimes I have white bits on my tonsils but then they go again what will that be and how do you tell this difference between thrush and food or whatever
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

it can be very difficult to tell the difference between thrush and food

food would wash away with gargling and drinking water

thrush will not wash away with gargling and drinking water.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This i my mouth now does it look like thrush has cleared I have been using it for 1 week
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, it looks like the thrush has cleared.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh good so don't need to take daktarin
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

you can stop it if your thrush has been clear for a week.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The last time I only took it for 4 days and came back again so started taking it again on Friday I have been using it since then so I have got today and tommorro to go on it and that will be a week so do you think after tommorro I can stop using it
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, after tomorrow you can stop using it.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you and that should be long enough to keep it away
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

yes, it will be long enough to keep it away.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you very much
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it shouldn't come back again if I've been using it for a week
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

it shouldn't come back.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thank you I have missed one dose will it make a difference
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

no, it won't make a difference.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
