Opiates are the mainstay for pain rleief in terminal illness.

Morphine can be used in liquid or tablet form every 6 hours or so safely.

Morphine drip is another option if patient is not in a state to tolerate oral intake.

Hydromorphone is another option even stronger than morphine.
