Customer Question

Hi, 13 days ago I had an encounter with a female escort. We had unprotected oral sex (on me) and protected vaginal sex.
Since the exposure I have become petrified that I am infected with HIV.Since day 4/5 or so, I have not been feeling myself. I believe the term is 'malaise' butspecifically I feel 'spaced out', dizzy , uneasy on my feet etc...this is a constant feeling and has been since day 4/5. I have also been getting headaches from day 7 onwards...these headaches mostly appear at night and is a pain on my forehead, specifically between my eyebrows - I would describe these as mild/moderate headaches. This is when things get worse...
On day 10 I suffered night sweats. I woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat, the next day I suffered unrelenting headache all day, the severity was worse than previously. On night 11 I suffered another night sweat. The next day my headaches went back to being mild/moderate. Today (day 13) I feel the constant malaise and dizziness again and I have also developed a slight roughness to my throat (not sore though) and slight stiff neck, but headaches are not present and I did not have a night sweat last night. I am also constantly tired. The malaise, tiredness and headaches don't severely affect my activities, I am still able to go to work, walk a few miles each day...but I just don't feel 100%. I am confused by symptoms coming and going and some being ever present. What are the chances I have contracted HIV?
Are my symptoms HIV related?

It is far too early to have any hiv symptoms if you were infected 13 days ago. The activity you are describing would rarely result in infection. Go get a rapid hiv test at the county health dept.

Thank you for your response doctor. I have another few questions.I have 'constant' feeling of 'spaced out', slight dizziness etc...is this malaise? If not, what sort of feelings make up the term 'malaise'?
Also, would headaches associated with seroconversion be severe and unrelenting? My headaches come and go and are usually mild or moderate.
Thanks

Malaise is a feeling of fatigue and generally feeling unwell. You would not be feeling signs of seroconversion this early.

Does a fever have to be present when discussing headaches and slight rough throat when considering it to be early HIV symptoms?
Expert:  Dr. K. replied 1 month ago.

Your symptoms are too early for hiv.
