For months, on and off, I've suffered from a red and itchy

Resolved Question:

For months, on and off, I've suffered from a red and itchy foreskin. It comes and goes; sometimes it is fine and other times it can be very uncomfortable. Under the skin, the head will be very red or blotchy, with a white substance that wages of but with difficulty. A few days of symptoms with gentle washing seems to then go away. Time to get it fixed!

Do you have a picture of the rash?

Customer: replied 24 days ago.
Hello Dr Phil, thanks for replying. No, I do not. I understand this site often makes answers public and I would not want such an image to be published. The best way to describe it would be like an irritation; it does not weep, but it is very red, almost shiny in places. Not painful to touch.
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 24 days ago.

you can email to me

Customer: replied 24 days ago.
Is that essential? Email is not particularly secure either and I do value my privacy! If you send me an email address I will think about it.

you have to accept a small fee for private email

It is just hard for me to commen on a rash without seeing it

My best guess without seeing it is that it is fungal balanitis

Why don't you research some images and get back to me

Customer: replied 24 days ago.
I'd say that's a close match. Although, a lot of images I've seen are much worse. This one would be the closest when it's at its worst: https://goo.gl/images/pM7LBV

Yes, I would say that is consistent with fungal balanitis

I would try topical clotrimazole

if it doesn't work, see your doctor for full on culture and testing

is this helpful?

Thank you, ***** ***** Is this available over-the-counter?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 24 days ago.
