Hello! My name is***** to JustAnswer. I'm a Consultant Rheumatologist and I am reviewing your question now, and will post back with your reply momentarily.

Does the pain appeared suddenly ?

What you were doing when pain started ?

Any backache ?

Are hip joint movement painful as well ?

Regards

pain appeared fairly suddenly, no back pain. Not doing anything in particular ie I didn't do something and it started hurting. Yes hip joint is painful if I try to move my hip outwards there is also inner thigh pain then.

Are you still there?

Thanks for the information

This can be a pain originating from the hip joint or the surrounding ligaments

You should take an anti inflammatory drug like Motrin to help with the pain

If you continue to have pain and you can not put weight on the leg you will need to have an examination to establish the exact cause '

This might require an X-ray and an MRI to look into details of the problem

Please do let me know if you have any more question

When would you expect the pain to start to subside?

Within 1-2 hours of Motrin or even earlier than this

I have been reminded that 2 weeks ago I slipped getting out of bed and had bruising on back and buttock (right side) that is just subsiding. Could this be a delayed injury or likely to be unrelated?

Yes a ligament tear can be a possibility in this situation and you do need evaluation for that
