The replacement unit was it new or second hand?

Also the first unit, did the sound just stop one day without warning?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Ok was the unit professionally installed with the factory harness adapter?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

THe unit installed was the same style as old one just plugged straight back into old wiring by mechanic

Ok since this has happened with both units, the issue has to be a loose ground in the wiring. You have power but the ground will affect the sound. The harness needs to be checked for loose or frayed wires and the ground needs to be checked to make sure it is good and tight.
