Customer Question

Hi. I have a 270CDI( 2002). Was told that one cylinder had no compression. Went in for repairs.
Head taken off and skimmed, valves refaced etc..£1150.00. One week later the same problem. They then replaced two injectors and the fuel pump. Another £ 300.00.
One day later, having done only 5 miles, engine cut out. AA told me that it was the ECU.
Towed to the same garage. After 3days they found error codes P1614 and P1664. Could you please explain what the problem is, before I get told some other stories by the garage and receive another hefty bill. Thanks in advance

Hi ,

P1614 Control module or fuel metering control or fuel rack sensor or slide valve sensor

P1614 controller N3/9

P1614 N3/9 (CDI control module) Microcontroller COMMUNICATION 1

P1614 N3/9 (CDI control module) Microcontroller COMMUNICATION 2

P1614 N3/9 (CDI control module) Microcontroller Quantity stop

P1614 N3/9 (CDI control module) Microcontroller Recovery error

P1614 N3/9 (CDI control module) Microcontroller Shut-off monitoring

P1664 Electric heater booster equipment fault

P1664 electric heater fault

P1664 electric heater open

P1664 electric heater output stage fault

P1664 electric heater short

P1664 heater

P1664 load signal of electric heater motor implausible

The P1614 is your problem this is normally a wiring issue or the control module has
malfunctioned as this controls the fuel metering .

Sorry but his could also become a very expensive repair .

Kindest regards Greg

Hi Greg

Thanks for your reply.

I would like to ask you if these errors could have anything to do with the repairs done, as the ECU never failed before. The engine cut out when the injectors and fuel pump were replaced.

Hi Paul ,

I think this could of been the main problem from the start ,

And the other work was not needed.
