hi i have a 06 viano 2.2 cdi with auto trans , there are a few problems with this auto
1/ motor flares when shifting between 2 & 3 gear at approx 60 kph (35mph)
usally after the car has warmed up
2/ also surges at low speeds up & down 500 rpm until you push harder on the accelarator then it goes away
3/ also on deaccelaration it jumps down & up 500 rpm feels like tapping brakes on & off this happens all the time

What exactly has been done up to now to try and deal with this - and do you have any fault codes etc?

How exactly have you "tried to reset the transmission"...?

mileage is 752 k yep that is right


this is what i tried for the auto,


(1) switch OFF the climate control and radio.


(2) close ALL doors.


(3)Turn Ignition key to all dash lights ON position(not as far as start though)


(4) Press and hold the accelerator to the floor for 20 seconds.


(5)with Accelerator still to the floor, turn the key to the OFF position DONT REMOVE IT YET.


(6) Slowly lift your foot off the accelerator.


(7) Sit for 2 minutes DONT TOUCH ANY SWITCHES.


(8) Remove the ignition key and exit the car.




when i bought the van it had a lot of codes

i replaced led globes with standard globes and fitted a new brake light switch



have been getting ASR or AAS malfunction BAS malfunction light on dash for the last week turn off key & restart then comes back on a short time later

Hello again..

Thank you for that info.

There are indeed , still a lot of codes there.

What I suggest you do - you have to do , is delete those codes - re run the van for a while... and then re check the codes... That way- whatever codes you have then, you know are current and not historic - therefore to be worked with.

But when you delete them, make sure they are actually detected properly.

To - I strongly recommend have the code deletion / check / test done with either a dealer level machine or the MB STAR machine ... We see so many seem to give out fault codes, that are not actually correct when testing these with non dealer machines - it can ( and does ) therefore waste hours and cost unnecessary money - so its well worth spending if necessary , on having it on dealer equipment... not least nether, because while so doing, the vans computers etc can be read in LIVE data mode - not just plain fault codes - actuation tests etc etc can be carried out which will often find the root cause of your faults - far better than just fault code reading -

So thats the way forward on this one now... Let me know how you get on.
