If I'm changing the front wheel bearing hub on my 2002 CL55,

Resolved Question:

If I'm changing the front wheel bearing hub on my 2002 CL55, when I wind the locking nut back on up against the bearings, do I use a tool to nip it up or just hand tight? Should it spin completely freely as it's backed off or have slight resistance?

Hello

if your locking nut is the type that has the little clamp screw to lock it

then the best method is to do the main nut just tight enough with a spanner until the hub cannot turn

then back it off until you can just turn the hub by hand, there should be a little bit of resistance and it should not spin freely

once this is set tighten the 5mm clamp screw to 8 ft/lb
