I am changining the valve cover gasket on a 1989 \300sl mercedes.
1. What torque reference should the bolts be tightened to.
2. Is there any sequence in tightening the bolts.

Hello John

the cam cover bolts are tightened to 9Nm and there's no tightening sequence, but its good practice to tighten the bolts running across the cover - so run from corner to corner to draw the cover down evenly
