Resolved Question:

HiI have a 2016 316 sprinter, I would like to increase the acceleration.
It is a conversion and weighs unladed 2.9 ton, Iv have tried a diesel chip but still want to know if I could fit a 3.0 l in the van.

Hello

the 3.0ltr engine is an option only in the states and difficult to get over here, also by far the easier route is to sell your current van and get one with a larger engine as an engine change will need a different engine bay wiring loom, exhaust, intercooler and ECU as well as the engine

the ECU will then need recoding to work with the new ( to it) keys and security module and only the dealers and Mercedes specialists are capable of this

if you still want to carry the conversion out then let me know your location so I can try to locate a specialist for you

Thanks Matt
I understand your answer it does seem like a lot of work associated with the engine change. considering the current engine has only done 6000 miles.
Can you suggest any upgrades to improve the bottom end torque, the top
End is good when the van is rolling..Ian

Hello

can you tell me what chip you already have ?

as to be honest I've know the 'tunit' boxes to give the best results

http://www.tunit.co.uk/

fitting a lower back pressure ( louder) exhaust would also help

Hi MattI have the chip express unit as attached,
I have looked at an exhaust but not yet come across one for my model although fox do one. What are your thoughtsIan
Expert:  Matt replied 1 month ago.

Hello

I don't know if that Fox exhaust is a striaght through design or not?

if it is then it'll certainly help

I'd also look at this firm

http://www.profusioncustoms.com/mercedes-sprinter-stainless-steel-exhaust/

regarding the chip express firm

its not one I've come across before so I cannot comment in the same way I'd reccommend tunit having a direct expierence with their products

if they can show a before and after dyno curve then that would be adequate proof they know their stuff

Hi Matt
Iv booked in for an exhaust upgrade.
The guys can only do from the cat outwards due to restrictions ?
Expert:  Matt replied 1 month ago.

thats quite normal, and you'd want to leave the cat in place to pass an MOT

even so you'd still get some good gains
