when shut down comp a message comes up dont power of installing 1 of 118 up dates when i turn it back on in morning its message is con figuring windows up date this is takeing about an hour this has happened on the last three days

Can you turn off the computer.

Turn it on and keep tapping F8 until you get a menu.

Choose Last Known Good Configuration.

Tell me if when selecting this, the computer now starts up please.

it gets stuck at night when i try to shut down and in morn when i turn on it then turns turn its self back on

ok, then the updates are being stopped by a process, and I want you to do the following please Ian.


Click Start, type in MSCONFIG and press enter.

Click on the Startup Tab and click Disable All.

Click on the Services Tab and click "Hide All Microsoft Services"

Then click Disable All

Click ok, restart and let me know if you still have the problem please.

sorry msconfig is what i put in

It will show when you do it correct.

You need to click Start, type in

MSCONFIG

In the search, and press Enter

It will show the new window, and you will see the Startup and Services tab

Click on the Startup Tab and click Disable All.

Click on the Services Tab and click "Hide All Microsoft Services"

Then click Disable All

Click ok, restart
