Hi Team, I removed the HDD with Windows 7 from one laptop

Customer Question

Hi Team,
I removed the HDD with Windows 7 from one laptop (that had to be returned) and inserted it into another laptop (same model and make and with minimum Driver upgrades).

Everything seems to work fine but now I get an activation error and says that it has exceeded the allowed devices!

Can you please advise

Thank you for your question, my name is Richard.

This is the Windows Activation, as it has detected you are using another computer.

They restrict this to a certain amount of installations, to stop piracy.

Call 0844 800 24 00 and request that you get a reset done on the Microsoft Server for your installation count.

Once done, you can then Activate your copy.

If you have any difficulties at all, please do not hesitate to let me know so I can assist you further

Thank you
