As Windows XP will no longer supported what steps would you

Resolved Question:

As Windows XP will no longer supported what steps would you advise for the future.
I have an attachment to this machine and would like to keep it even though my Grandson asked me "where do you put the coal in".
Kind Regards,
Arnie.

Thank you for your question, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I look forward to assisting you.

Please note, click on Reply to Expert to reply to me, a rating is only needed when we are finished.

I advise you to keep using it. The operating system is very secure and stable, and will work without issues for at least the next two years.

No one really contacts Microsoft for support (eg: You came here for support) and it is based on a very stable build.

I really advise to just keep using it until you feel the need to replace your computer (for other reasons). There is no real benefit to upgrade to a later version of windows when you have Windows XP.

If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I have tried to access a secure site to do a course which someone dreamed up for my job. I am using a dongle that is linked to Meteor but can not open the pages that I need.

Which internet browser are you using for that site? eg: Internet Explorer?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes it is Internet Explorer.

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Please do the following in Internet Explorer

Click Tools (the gear wheel top right) than Internet Options

Click on the General Tab and Delete all Temporary Internet Files.

Than click the Advance Tab and click Reset

Then restart the computer and tell me if the website now works please.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

still will not allow me in

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Whats the error you get?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

can not display this page I noticed that on that pct 1.0 seems not to be on my system.I do not know if this makes a difference.

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
No it does not

When it says cannot display page, this usually points to an issue on the server, not your computer.

What is the address to the page?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

https://plspharma.digitalchalk.com/dc/guest/login

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
You get an error on the login page?

Or when trying to log in?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

when I type in https ect I comes page can not be displayed

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
Click this link

Click me to OPEN

What do you see?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

warning that you are connecting to a secure site. Then when I put in http ect page is unavailable may need to adj browser settings. click refreash, check connection settings, check 128 bit secure, this where I spotted it looks for pct 1.0 among others pct1.0 does not seem to be listed when I go advance bar after tools ect. I do not know if this means anything

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok, download Google Chrome from my link below

www.google.com/chrome

It is a replacement to Internet Explorer.

Open Google Chrome and tell me if you can access the site with this please.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Tried this already and it warns that it is not secure Also on the very top bar on explorer, above cannot display page, it says cannot find server

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
If you say

Also on the very top bar on explorer

Then you did not do this, as it is Google Chrome, not internet explorer.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I tried both I just mentioned the top bar in explorer in case it helps as I do not know what makes a difference to you

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
ok, this is a lot more involved then expected.

I need you to make an actual new question from it on this link please.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am confused. I have clicked on name and filled in question but do not seem to be getting a response

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
You need to complete the entire process on the question page.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I have got a response with the name of the expert It says "I need to ask a few more questions" Where will these questions appear and is there a waiting time?

Expert:  Richard replied 3 years ago.
