jstinehelfer :

Hello my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you today. I understand technology can be frustrating at times and hopefully together we can come up with a solution to your problem.

jstinehelfer :

Which version of IE are you using?

Customer:

i dont know how can i see it,i tried with propertes but it doesn't say.

jstinehelfer :

do you have the menu File Edit etc then Help?

jstinehelfer :

up on the toolbar?

jstinehelfer :

Under Help you should be able to choose About IE and it will tell you the version

Customer:

i think it is 9.0

jstinehelfer :

Do you have a Tools menu?

jstinehelfer :

There should be an option to choose compatibility mode

Customer:

i saw it from instruments and about IE

Customer:

i am not sure, there is only 3 buttons-home,favorites and instruments on the right

jstinehelfer :

ok try right clicking on the tool bar. you should see the options come up so you can choose menu and activate it. There is many other options as well

Customer:

yes now i have the manu

Customer:

menu*

jstinehelfer :

now look under Tools and try adding the website to compatibility mode

jstinehelfer :

also we need to allow the website to have permission to use pop ups. So your pop up blocker needs to allow microsoftlearning.com to be added to its allow list.

jstinehelfer :

let me know if you need step by step instructions

Customer:

i think i did set it to compatibility mode and it asked me to download some cleaner for microsoft errors

Customer:

i did installed it

jstinehelfer :

can you test it and see if it helped?

Customer:

yes it is scanning now

Customer:

and i have a lot of errors

jstinehelfer :

I am wondering what exactly is running. Is there a title to it?

Customer:

oh i think i have to pay

Customer:

to use it

jstinehelfer :

I am thinking your getting spammed

Customer:

it jusct scnned

Customer:

yes may be

jstinehelfer :

You should of not had to download and scan anything

jstinehelfer :

I think you have an addon that is causing you problems

jstinehelfer :

or you have maleware on your computer

Customer:

ok,so what should i do?

jstinehelfer :

can you close that scanning software ?

Customer:

yes

jstinehelfer :

Ok did you add microsoftlearning.com to your compatibility mode?

Customer:

my antivirus system alarmed me for unprotected add on or something

Customer:

no

Customer:

yes i added it

jstinehelfer :

that link explains how to add it

jstinehelfer :

  1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.

  2. Tap or click the Tools button [IMAGE][SRC][/SRC][ALT][/ALT][WIDTH]100[/WIDTH][HEIGHT]100[/HEIGHT][STYLE][/STYLE][/IMAGE], and then tap or click Compatibility View settings.

  3. Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the list, and then tap or click Add.

jstinehelfer :

Under Tools go to Pop up blocker then Pop up blocker settings

Customer:

yes i did that

jstinehelfer :

add the website to the allow list

Customer:

yes i did that

jstinehelfer :

ok test the website now and see if it helped any

Customer:

no it is the same

jstinehelfer :

Ok could this be a zoom issue. You know how to zoom in and out dont you?

Customer:

i am not sure buti don't think it is a zoom issue

jstinehelfer :

Zoom is holding the ctrl button and tapping the plus or minus key

Customer:

its not working with me

Customer:

nothing happens

jstinehelfer :

Ok I have a few options here to throw out at you.

jstinehelfer :

We need to install Adobe Flash player

jstinehelfer :

We need to install Silver Lite software

Customer:

ok

jstinehelfer :

We can reset IE back to the way it was when it was first installed

Customer:

ok

jstinehelfer :

Once you install flashplayer and silverlight test the website again and see if we resolved the problem

Customer:

no it is the same

Customer:

nothing changed

jstinehelfer :

Ok we can try to reset IE and/or you can dowload a standalone player to do your studying with. It is your choice

Customer:

i dont know whatever you say

jstinehelfer :

ok if we reset IE you will have to close and start IE up again. So you might want to save this page in your favorites so you can come back here faster

Customer:

thats fine i willtype it again

jstinehelfer :

  1. On the Tools menu, tap or click Internet options. If you don't see the Tools menu, press Alt.

  2. In the Internet Options window, tap or click the Advanced tab.

  3. Tap or click Reset

In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, tap or click Reset.

jstinehelfer :

Dont put a check mark beside Delete personal settings

Customer:

yes i did that

jstinehelfer :

once it is done it should tell you that you need to restart Internet Explorer

Customer:

yes i restarted it and now it is asking to use the recommended settingsfor safe and compatibility or not use the recommended settings

jstinehelfer :

yes use the recommended settings

Customer:

yes now it opens me a page how to use IE9

jstinehelfer :

It is working now on the microsoftlearning.com?

Customer:

yes i think it is working

Customer:

i can open the self test pages

Customer:

no pop up window appears

jstinehelfer :

you will probably need to re add it to your allow list in your pop up blocker

Customer:

oh idont need it

Customer:

i can see the tes now without it

jstinehelfer :

so we both was able to get your problem resolved to then?
