I have just received an unsolicited request from Microsoft

Resolved Question:

I have just received an unsolicited request from Microsoft with a new verification password XXXXX means someone is trying to get into my account. However the account name they are trying to get access to is the one I changed about a month ago? What does this mean and what should I do?

Hello XXXXX isXXXXX

Welcome to Just Answer

Is this an Old Or New Email Account ?

Good news the verification process is working correctly so they cannot get in.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It is an old account, so why did I receive the email in the account which has my new password?
