Have successfully undertaken Factory Repair as you suggested, but am now having trouble in re-installing Office as Microsoft do not recognise my Office Product key. Whilst I know that Office Home and Student is a one PC Installation, sujrely there must be some way to re-install on the same PC in the situation I'm now in.

from there you can Deactive the current install ?

Success at last, office re-installed and operating - it a bit of time and liason with Microsoft to unstitch things, but got there in the end.
