James,

I cannot get past 'Change PC settings' It just flashes- purple- but won't open. I'll keep trying.

When you changed the registry details yesterday it seemed as if you pressed 'don't save' as you exited - maybe this was how it looked from my screen.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
Thanks we restarted but you can again if needed

Hi James,

The recovery through the control panel didn't work. It tells me to use an advanced recovery method.

I'm not able to do this.

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
One last thing we can try without needed a disk
what is the Make of the Machine
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It's an Acer Aspire XC-105

Expert:  James K. replied 2 years ago.
Power off the machine

As soon as it comes on

Hold alt+ tap F10

See if you can accses the recovery console that way

If you cannot that way you will need a restore disk i am afraid

Cheers James
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
