how can I change a3 image to a4

Customer Question

how can I change a3 image to a4
Submitted: 1 year ago.
Category: Microsoft Office
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thank you for your question, my name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you.
Please note, click on Reply to Expert to reply to me, a rating is only needed when we are finished.
Do you mean resize the image so it can be printed on A4?
Or are you trying to print A4 but it comes out as A3?
Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No.

My image is on A3 and I want to reduce it in size onto an A4 paper.

I have managed to do thi process for many years but from a couple of days ago the function has stopped working

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Which program are you doing this in Ian?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Windows 7

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thats your version of Windows.
I need to know Ian which program in windows you are doing this in.
I need more information please to best understand what you are doing
I can see you are a first time user to the site. What we do here is either a question and answer type of conversation or remote support where I would actually connect to the computer and have a look and fix the issue if possible.
Remote support can save a lot of time if you are not comfortable performing repairs yourself.
I will send an offer through for remote support and should you accept I will connect and see what is going on and fix the issue. Otherwise we can continue to talk like this but I will need to ask a number of other questions and try and walk you through some steps for repair.
Both options are 100% guaranteed by the way. Remote is just quicker and avoids the risk of you making a mistake and doing something wrong.
If you want remote click get extra help. If not simply reply to me.
Thanks,
Richard
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

what do you mean remote help?

Talking instead of commuting by text

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Going onto your computer myself and seeing all the facts directly, else I need more detail from you, especially which program your using Ian.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

no i don't want this. ill just leave it for now

how do i get off this chat,

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
strange as I am not sure then why you do not even tell me the program you are using....
But ok, just close this window
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

i anm using Microsoft word

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thank you, ***** ***** needed the version, but will assume 2010
You need to change the page Layout.
To do this, in Word, click on the Page Layout Tab, then Size and you will see A4 in the list.
Choose this and it will then set the page size to A4.
Then any image on this page you resize by dragging the edges, to fit within the page so it then prints out as A4.
Let me know if you have any difficulties please
Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Sorry i think ive not been clear enough.

Ill be more specific

Its not an image, its a restaurant menu im trying to change from A3 to A4 or in some cases A4 to A3, up until a couple of days ago i was able to do this no problem but all of a sudden this has stopped working

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, can I look at this please?
You can provide it to me by doing the below
- Click the following link: http://www.wikisend.com
- Upload the file to that website
- Once it is uploaded, the resulting page will display a "File ID" number.
- Please, give me that "File ID Number"
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

File ID: 311826

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Thanks
The instructions I gave you Ian worked for me.
I changed it to A4 for you and you can download it from www.wikisend.com under File ID 319300
If you have any problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Sorry Ian your response is blank, can you repeat it please?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Sorry

I cant download it says im out of time?

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
There is no time limit on it, so strange
Can you try again now please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

hi

Not quite,

Yes you've got the menu onto A4 size paper but 1 menu is now shared onto 2 pages

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes, you would need to resize the menu so it can fit on the A4 page, as it was on A3.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

yes I can already do that, but before a couple of days ago I didn't have to do that manually,

I would go on to print and change paper size and push fit to page and then it would come out on A4 size paper automatically, 1 second job

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
So you want to print in A4 not resize, then when you print you choose A4 on the print Dialogue box at the bottom.
It is the 5th option under settings.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No ive tried that

still no luck

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
how is it failing. Please, I need a greater level of detail from you when replying.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

This way its printing the a3 menu on 2 to 3 a4 pages.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
That is because you have too much content to fit on ONE page of the A4.
This is what I have been explaining. Before you had enough that it would still fit on A4, and now you have added more content whereabouts it will not fit.
This is why it expands the pages and you need to edit it and remove content to fit it back to single pages.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No this is not the case at all.

2 days ago I would have went to print,

clicked printer properties

clicked set up

page size change from A3 to A4

click on the box fit to page

then print off

The A4 paper would print and all the menu would be on the A4 paper

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
hyes, and if you do that now it prints off on A4.
I have said this a number of times and explained why it is more pages.
You added more content
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

no no

the menu I gave you is a 2 sided menu

I would print off one side on the a4 then turn the paper round and print the 2nd page on that side.

no problem 2 days ago.

I haven't added any more content

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
It is the only reason, more content expands onto multiple pages, I cannot assist you further as the reason for this has been explained.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Im sorry

it has not been explained

its still not reprinting onto A4

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
IOt is when you do the instructions I gave.
I have given instructions to convert to A4 as this was what you initially wanted.
Then you said to print, so I gave instructions for this.
I have even given the file back to you in A4
If it is printing on extra pages, as I have said it is because there is too much content to fit.
A3 is larger then A4, hence needing more A4 pages to fit.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

I am aware of this.

but as explained i have reduced the a3 size document onto a4 size paper with all the writing etc on the a4 page but its not allowing me to do this anymore from only 2 days ago.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
You would need to reduce the font size of the text.
So press CTRL+A to select all, then reduce the font size so the Text is smaller.
Once done, it will then require less space and if you reduce the space enough, it will then fit on the pages as you require.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

hi Richard

You don't have to reduced font size as the automatin button on my programme downsizes this automaticaly

This has only happened in the last 2 days

I am only telling you this as i have been reducing this ever since ive had an A3 printer. 6 years

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, then when printing, choose as an option to have 1 Page per sheet, the last option on print
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

already doing this

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
there the only two options that effect this, so you have to reduce font size as more content has been added.
Only reason left
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The resize option cannot be working that's the only reason!
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok Ian
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There's are size option once I go into print,
This allows me to reduce A3 paper onto A4 paper using the same lunch menu
In fact you can reduce to any size of paper but obviously the more you reduce the pale size the smaller the menu.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes, as I very very first told you how to reduce the paper to A4.
Its the first instructions I gave
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

hi Richard

i followed all this and yes it did go onto a4 but 1page was displayed over 2 pages

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
yes.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Right weve agreed.

But when i go to print i have an option to fit the content of an A3 page to have the same content an an A4 page. My computer in not following this instructioin as previously used and enjoyed

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
I have explained all this Ian, please read through our discussion history.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

The menu you sent back was not correct,

I apologise in this instance but you have not solved my problem.

I am not happy at this as ive spent a long time here today

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok Alan, I have explained why this is happening a number of times now and how to solve it. I am not sure why you are reacting in this way as opposed to carrying out the instructions.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

(Ian)

i may have lost some instruction please send it again

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Press CTRL + A to select all text
Then reduce the font size so it fits onto one page when you print.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

hi Richard

Yes i already know one can do this.

But your not listening to me

The function on the print section allowed me to automatically print what ever was on an A3 page onto A4 size paper this was without altering any font size.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Yes, if it can aqueeze the text down to size, for your document it cant.
Think it through Ian, Larger size goes to smaller size paper, so it needs to bunch the text up smaller, hence spilling onto multiple pages.
Again, there is nothing more to add to this that we have not already gone through a number of times.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Strange that this lunch menu and others did this function 2 days ago now it's not. No changes just the same size of letters?
Explain please!
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
Alan, I have and this would be my fourth time.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Names Ian
You must be speaking to someone else
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
My apologies, it was a typo
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sorry
Your wrong Richard.
Your explanation is not correct.
The function on my computer is not working!!
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok, no problem Ian
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So what now richard
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
you reduce the font size so it fits.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
You've given me a solution that I already knew but not the problem I can no longer use for the problem.
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok Ian, if you already knew the solution I gave, then please do it.
There is nothing further for us to discuss as you know what to do to solve it.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Well that was a waste of my money. You have given me no help
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.
ok Ian.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Satisfaction fully guaranteed on the website. Somehow I don't think so.
