my windows installed an update and then there was a message

Resolved Question:

my windows installed an update and then there was a message on screen saying the update was unsuccessful. The screen then said, undoing update, do not turn off computer. It is now stuck at this stage, undoing updates. What can I do?

I did the hold power down button for 30 secs.....pc restarted but still have th same screen.... updates were not successful, undoing changes..do not turn computer off

remove the battery
remove the power cord
Hold the power on for 2 mins with both removed
insert the power cord , start the machine and put the battery back in

you will get a list of options choose safemode with networking

Hi, i set to restore to two days ago and then got a message that the restore failed. The laptop rebooted and I am back at the first screen, failure configuring widows update, undoing changes and Dont turn off your computer. This was the problem i had originally.

it is still restoring, taking a long time. if this works, is there a way of turning off automatic updates? Been speaking with colleagues, quite a lot have had issues with yesterday's updates.

Hi, it finished the restore, restarted, then I got Prepping Automatic Repair, Diagnosing your PC, Attempting repair, restarted, got Automatic Repair option again, selected restart, and got Automatic Repair screen again. Have two options, Restart and Advanced Options.

k, restarted.........am back at Preparing Automatic Repair again, Diagnosiing etc .. now have the Automatic Repair screen, Your PC did not start correctly, Press Restart to restart your PC which can sometimes fix the problem. You can also press Advanced option to try other options to repair your PC. Restart or Advanced Options.

I saw that option in advanced........ will using an earlier restore point than previously be worth trying before I wipe all my data?

But i think your corrupted which means a factory restore is the best option back to day 1 condition

No, it didnt work. Guess I have to do the dirty deed and do a factory restart, how do I go about this?

Just remove my files

Clean the drive fully

will my OS still remain? I dont want to have issue with not having windows.
