Customer Question

I have MS Office 2003. I have scanned a music hymn book it came out good but all the pages are sidways. I can turn one page but on next page they all jumble up. Can I change them all at once. (have tried a page break at each end and used the VBA editor but didnt work. ie., inserted selection.orientation = wdtextOrientationVerticalFarEast, pressed enter but nothing happened.)

no, I just inserted the scans in word

Hi Colin,
Thank you for writing back and I am very sorry about the issue. I believe they are now embedded objects in your MS Word so it can result to a bloated file.
Can you send a dummy copy of your file so that I can check what is the best way to arrange the images there?
You can upload the dummy word file with some of the scanned images (as samples for me to try to manipulate) using the link below:
http://filesxpress.com/
After uploading the file, please copy and paste the Short Link when you reply so that I can download your file.
Keep me posted.

Hope I done it write

Expert:  Jess M. replied 2 years ago.
Hi Colin,
I got the file. It appears that the images are sideways in a portrait page layout and it is just correct to do that to accommodate the long scanned images.
If you want to position the images correctly (not sideways), you first need to change the page layout to landscape.
Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to do this since we are dealing with embedded images. It needs to be done manually. Even Format Painter will not work since the formatting is done to images and not text.
Please give me a moment.

Yes Jess, the are fine for printing on paper as they are but I need to read on screen as well. There are about 350 pages and I am 75 but have never asked for help on the PC before, should have saved as images

I know I still can but will take me weeks.

Hi Colin,
Here is the completed file. Please download it in the link below:
http://filesxpress.com/d-2a79e84e
If you want, you can send me the entire Word file with 350 pages in it so that I can fix the layout for you. But please also give me enough time to do it for you. Ok? I hope it is a fair deal as I really want to help you with this but there is no automated way to employ here as we are working with embedded images.
The next time you do these music scanning, I suggest you scan them as images and then position them properly. You can then insert them into your Word file in LANDSCAPE format and it will display properly and automatically.
I hope that helped.

Colin,
That new link is similar to the dummy file you sent me with only 15 pages.
Please upload the original file, the one you mentioned with 350 pages in it, upload it in the link below then give me the Short Link:
http://filesxpress.com/
I will then fix the layout for you and then send you the corrected file.
Keep me posted.

Colin,
Are you still referring to the dummy file? Well I have corrected it for you and I believe you have downloaded it already.
You need to RENAME the file in order to upload it to http://filesxpress.com/ or you can simply upload the original file AndrewsHymnal.doc and then give me the Short Link.

Wow! I didnt expect you to be up all night finishing it. Just wondering

why most of the pages came out twice.

Its a bit queer as you have to watch a few are twice anyway but with

another tune.

Expert:  Jess M. replied 2 years ago.
Hi Colin,
Thank you for writing back and I am glad that you were able to download the completed file. Honestly, I do not know if the pages were duplicated or not. I just manually extracted the images in your document and then changed their orientation to landscape and then insert them to a blank document.
I cannot read music sheets so I do not know if they were duplicates already but I did not duplicate them, please check your original document, the images could have been scanned twice and embedded twice there.
I hope that helped.
