Customer Question

I just bought a "Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter".
I have "Windows 10" on my laptop (recently upgraded from Windows 7).
With a tablet I'm supposed to go through the following procedure:
Settings>Devices>Project etc.
My question is:
What procedure do I follow with my LAPTOP?

yes

Thanks Anthony
It has been known to not work with Windows 10 on a number of computers so be wary of this if these instructions fail
But what you have to now do is the
Go to Start Windows logo, and then to the Store.
Make sure you’ve signed in with your Microsoft account.
In the search box, enter Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
Select the tile for the app, and select Free.
The app will install
After the app installs, find it in apps. Go to Start Windows logo, and select All apps > Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
then try to connect
Let me know the results please

then try to connect (DONE ALL THAT).

WHEN I TRY TO CONNECT I GET THIS MESSAGE:

TO CONNECT GO TO: DEVICES > PROJECT > YOUR ADAPTER NAME

OR

TO PAIR GO TO: DEVICES > PROJECT > ADD A WIRELESS DISPLAY

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I GET TO DEVICES THERE IS NO OPTION CALLED "PROJECT".

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Tanks,
It means it is not seeing the device Anthony, which is currently an issue with windows 10 sorry, which is why I warned you upfront about this possible outcome and then ensuring that you had done all the steps.
Currently, apart from going back to windows 7, you would need to wait for the next update from Microsoft.
Or, if you tell me what your trying to display to, I can tell you if there is an alternative device that does work.
If you would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Else if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I was simply trying to connect my laptop to my new 46-inch-monitor TV in order to view anything on a larger screen.

However, you seem to think that reverting to Windows 7 might solve the problem?

If so, how do I revert back to Windows 7 ?

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
It does work with windows 7, but from your post it appeared you had it working with windows 7 which indicated your setup was correct.
Are you saying you have never had it working at all?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

yes

Thanks
The adapter, its connected to a HDMI port on the TV and the USB part to a USB port on the TV so it is powered?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

YES, and I Get a screen with the Microsoft Logo and

"Microsoft Display Adapter_14 Ready to Connect" message...

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Thanks
When you go to Devices, what is listed there?
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
One thing that came to mind
Click on the microsoft logo bottom right then settings.
Then click on Devices
Then type in the Search Project
Then choose Project to a second screen.
Then choose Project to a wireless device when it appears on the right.
Let me know the results please

DONE THAT:

this is the response:

"We could not find another screen to connect to. Check your connection and try again".

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Restart the Laptop then try again please Anthony.
