I have to eject any USB memory stick twice because the first time I get a message saying it is in use. It isn't! How can I stop this, please?

Press the windows key + R

Type in

msconfig

press enter

Click on the services tab

Click on
"Hide all microsoft services"

Click disable all

Click ok

Restart and tell me if you still have the issue please.

Yes as the program starts them when they are needed. It's a better configuration for your computer as it means only the processes you need will run.
