Customer Question

I have a 2003 Shogun LWB Petrol 3.2L. My garage tells me I have fault codes 15 Coolant temp sensor, 16 Air temp sensor, 17 Vehicle speed sensor and 2 unidentified codes 00024(0018) and 00056(0038). What do they mean and are there suggested replacement parts for them?

Hi .

What i suggest you do first is bhave the codes cleared with the scan tool and then drive a few days and recheck what codes come back .

Then get back to me with the codes .

My garage cleared them and the same ones came back again. He suggested looking for recommendations online as his manual did not have any. I'm reluctant to bring it to a dealer as I know the cost is going to be enormous compared to my local garage.

Hi

15 Engine coolant temperature sensor

16 Boost air temperature sensor

17 Vehicle speed sensor system

00024(0018) and 00056(0038) What tool are you using to get these codes .

The garage uses a snap-on, not sure of the model. I'm not having any irregular symptoms. He was checking, why my ABS light was on and just ran the other tests while we were hooked up.

Hi Richard .

Looks like the tool has misread the system .but on the ABS side .here is what i want you to do.

In the DLC ground /earth the pin one (1) as shown below .

Then without touching the brake pedal switch on the ignition switch (do not start the engine )
Then the ABS warning light will start to flash ,the long flash is the Tens and the short flash the units so if you have 3 long and 2 short this will be a coder 32 do this a few times to be sure as you may have more than one code .

once you have the codes you can then check what issue you have ,
Here is the code list for your Mechanic

We got 11on the abs side when we ran it. Front right wheel speed sensor, which is a hard part to locate. The others that mentioned before are the ones I'm now concerned about.

Expert:  Greg replied 3 years ago.
Hi Richard

You got to take care of the VSS Code 17, this is also used for the ABS system .

Here is the diagram for the sensors check the wiring first .
