Customer Question

I am getting knocking noises from the engine cover area of my Lancer 2.0ltr Sport. Initially it went when the engine got warm but now is constant. I'm guessing this is caused by lifters, but could it also mean that it is out of time or that I need to have the camshafts changed.

Hi Ian..

Let say that the lifters are the ticking due to the overheating of the engine ,

So here is what i suggest you try first ,(which should be done after overheating)
Pour a can od engine flush in the engine oil ,
Start engine and let idle for 20 minutes.
Stop engine and drain of the oil and replace the filter .
Fill 5 quarts of 10W30 castrol oil .
Start engine and see if the ticking has improved .
Drain and replace the coolant .
Add a can of injector cleaner in the tank, use a good expensive cleaner and not the cheap store cleaners ..

Let me know if this has improved the ticking .
