I've got fault code ( p0403 ) come upon 2006 plate Mitsubishi l200 diesel. I've cleaned out egr valve and turn off fault via computer. When turning ignishion back on fault reappears . Also noticed a little bit of soot in water ?

Hi

If this fault comes back on just with switching on the ignition then you have a problem with the EGR being stuck open/closed .try another EGR valve , but first check the wiring harness for any shorts to ground ..as a short will also give you this code .

Wiring harness good replace the EGR valve .

Ok I agree with your comment but what about soot in the water system is this caused through egr valve not working and can it do major damage to engine ?

Soot in the coolant water .is a sign of a headgasket issue .

Do a Co2 test to confirm a bad head gasket .
