these engines are interferenec engines
but that does not neccessarily mean there was damage when the chain broke
damage is certainly more likely if the chain broke while driving versus at an idle
best thing to do is set the new chain and do a compression test or remove the head and check the valves before installing the new chain

yours is fitted with a belt.
saying chain is habitual as about 90% of all Nissan engines use chains, versus belt.
It's kind of like the fact that we still refer to refrigerant as freon.
