Hi there, thanks for the question.

Does it run fine on acceleration and cruising?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes it runs fine then buy if you decelerate to a slow speed it will cut out.

And you have to turn the ignition off and then on again to start it.

Thank you! That could certainly be the EGR, it will flood the intake track with exhaust gas at idle if it sticks open and cause loping idle and stalling.

So check and clean the EGR and let me know.

Hi.

Dose the EGR need to be set up in any way ??????

Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.
No, it's vacuum operated.

No need to set it up, but they get really full of sut and carbon which causes them to stick open. You can try cleaning it first.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Jake.

I fitted a new EGR valve £ 400-00 and it seems to have cured the running lumpy.

(by the way the 2 pipes at the bottom of the Valve are coolant pipes arn't they. as there was coolant in them when i removed them.------ If there vacume pipes with coolant in them ----- i think thats BAD----- head gasket gone)

However it still stalls when the tick over is at about 800 rpm.

When u stop at a road junction ----- not all the time just now & then.

Any Ideas????????????????????

Yes, there Is small diameter coolant hoses that run through the EGR.

When it stalls now does is sputter out? Or just cut out real fast? Is it hard to restart?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Jake.

It just cuts out Real fast

Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.

Thanks, that's not an EGR issue there. Glad the lumpy idle has been rectified.

Is the service engine light on now?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No it put the Engine Light Out

Thanks Brian, this can get tricky.

If it starts and idles just fine, but stalls when coming to a stop then it's generally fuel related. Now this could be as simple as some air in the line or as complicated as needing to read the fuel trims to see what readings are coming in.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Jake,

Where do i get the Fuel Trims Read mate.

Not a Nissan Garage

Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.

any garage with a scan tool can watch live fuel trim readings.

they will likely show long term, short term, and alpha.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Hi Jake.

What do they do then ----- adjust some thing.

Before I have The Car Serviced I had no trouble with it should take it back to them.

And have them Bleed the fuel system again.

Brian.

Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.

If you had no issues prior to a certain service then the issues occurred you should certainly have taken it back to the garage that performed the repair.

If the fuel system needs to be bled again then either it was not properly bled the first time or there is a leak letting air in.

The fuel trims are used to see if the engine is running a set ratio or making large adjustments to reach there optimal mixture. If large corrections are being made this could indicate a rich or lean condition caused by the MAF, and air leak, or even an injection issue.

Hi Jake.
I took the Pathfinder into the garage as i said i would.
They pluged it in and it came back with Codes P1831 & P1832 Nothing else.
The Car is still cutting out some times on tick over or when you pull up to a road junction----- It will stop --- No ignition lights come on till you turn it off & On again.
Then it will start ok.
Go another mile come to aroad junction and its the same again.
Dose it when towing as well----- Could it be Electical ????????????? Ignition switch ????????? Just gessing.
Brian.
Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.
What's most peculiar here is the codes. They refer to communication issues from the ABS control unit.

It's not common for ABS related problems to give sympts of stalling like your getting though.

What do you mean it does it while towing??
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

If i come to a stop while towing it will cut out.

Not while crusing.

I cant make it out.??????????????????

When it runs lumpy (Like running on 3 cylinders) if you put your foot on the throttle it takes no notice(No excelleration Nothing)

???????????????

Brian

Expert:  Jake replied 3 years ago.

The "no throttle response" when the symptoms occur is consistent with the TCS error of the ABS unit you have code. When the vehicle thinks the wheels are slipping it will prevent throttle response.

Granted that still doesn't explain the peculiar lumpy idling. At this point it may be a little hard to diagnose over the net as an advanced level scan tool is needed to watch wheel speeds to rule out the ABS/TCS unit faults.

There is certainly something uncommon going on here, but without more data it's almost impossible to say at this point.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Well jake.

Ill have to put it into Nissan and pay there £65-00 an hour and se what they say.

Ill keep you informed Mate -------

Hi Jake.

It was the Mass Air Control Valve near the main air cleaner.

I took out the 2 bolts that hold it in.

Cleaned it with Carberettor cleaner.

Let it dry in the sun---- (Didnt Thouch it with my fingers as it looked Fragile.).

It came up like it Was New.

Refitted it and its like a New Car.

No Cutting out at low revs or when in low gear and its stoped running Lumpy.

Nice 1 M8.

Catch you Laterssssssssssssssssss,
