Jake :

hi there

Jake :

If the radio will not power ON at all, meaning the lights don't come on

Jake :

and it doesn't ask for a code

Jake :

then there is really only 2 things that would cause this

Customer:

hello,

Jake :

either a blown fuse or failed radio unit

Jake :

it's extremely uncommon for a radio to fail from simply disconnecting the battery

Customer:

All other electrics work. Lights A/C, indicators etc okay only the radio won't turn on

Jake :

so I would replace the audio fuses at the interior fuse panel even if they look fine

Jake :

First of all if the radio was ON, prior to disconnecting the battery

Jake :

you shouldn't even have to turn it on

Jake :

it should come on immediately when you re-connect the battery

Customer:

I have swapped out a fuse with the same ampage still same. yes the radio was off no key in the ignition

Jake :

well there is no secrets here to be honest

Jake :

if you have power on both sides of the fuses with a test light

Jake :

then you need to verify power to the audio unit itself

Jake :

if it has power and will not come on the unit has failed

Jake :

unfortunately

Jake :

the audio unit is directly fused, there are no relays or security devices

Customer:

okay I will try that, I will take out fuse and put a meter across

Jake :

you can just leave the fuse in

Jake :

turn the ignition ON

Jake :

and check for power at both sides of the fuse

Jake :

there is a little hole at the top of each fuse

Jake :

on each side

Jake :

to test for power across it

Jake :

while plugged in

Jake :

you still there?

Hi Jake its graham again about the radio on Nissan qasquai , checked fuse think its okay not sure about meter , when unplugged fuse and left out for a while ,plugged back in and heard the cd changer etrying to exchange but still radio will not turn on

Expert:  Jake replied 2 years ago.
Well that lets you know that the radio IS getting power which is bad news for the radio itself.
That is a procedure we use for people to try and reset the cd changer, that's why you hear it cycling when the fuse is inserted.
Unfortunately this is the sign of a radio failure.
