Resolved Question:

We have a fifteen month old Note which has 7500 miles on the clock, the clutch has burnt out , Nissan say it our fault for reeving the engine, we are in our seventies,not boy racers
Is this a common fault with the new model?
Nissan say we have to pay for a new clutch.

hey there, thanks for the question.

The clutch can be a little tricky when it comes to failures because the clutch is considered a general wear maintenance item similar to brake pads. So unless there was an obvious defect that caused premature failure they can try to get you for the repair.

In most cases though it's not difficult to dispute a case like this when the mileage is so significantly low. Even if you were driving poorly the clutch should not have failed so quickly. SO unless they can prove neglect you should have a fair case or argument for Nissan corporate to open with the dealer.

You will need to call Nissan to get a case opened with the dealer though.
