I have a 4year old Nissan micra automatic today I noticed a problem with the milage counter , my car as done just over 5000 miles since I bought it from new but today I was out driving and noticed that mileage was reading 50000 miles and every few yards I drove the mileage counter was clocking up miles

I'd say that its likely the speedometer / instrument cluster has become faulty and its worth trying the local nissan dealer to see if they will honour any kind of warrenty -although you're likely to be out of any period but as its unusual issue they may be helpful
