Dr Owen :

Hello

Dr Owen :

So you are late by about a week, correct?

Dr Owen :

when was your LAST pregnancy test?

Dr Owen :

what pregnancy test are you using?

Customer: Yes a week late, I have taken a home pregnant test
Dr Owen :

which test though - the name of the test and when did you do these tests and how many?

Customer: Last tested this afternoon
Dr Owen :

name of the test?

Customer: It's called reveal home pregnancy test
Dr Owen :

okay

Dr Owen :

Well - since you are a week late -

Dr Owen :

and the test is negative - I would check ONE more thing

Dr Owen :

I would do a Blood pregnancy test - as this might pick up a pregnancy

Dr Owen :

IF you are not pregnant this cycle then what has happened is that you did not ovulate this cycle - and usually this happens quite frequently ESPECIALLY when women are trying to get pregnant - BECAUSE women who are trying to get pregnant are a bit MORE anxious and this sometimes can cause missed ovulation which then causes a missed period

Dr Owen :

So, if you are not pregnant and still no period - you just missed ovulation this cycle and this is NOTHING to worry about - IT happens and it happens commonly - and you will still be able to get pregnant - and possibly in the next few cycles

Customer: Ok does this mean I may get a period next month then
Dr Owen :

Also, Since you are trying to get Pregnant I would check your thyroid with a TSH thyroid blood test - sometimes this is your thyroid - so a quick TSH thyroid blood test should be done

Dr Owen :

so YES you should have a period next month.

Dr Owen :

It is perfectly normal to miss a period every now and then.

Dr Owen :

So follow each of the steps I suggested

Dr Owen :

1. blood pregnancy test

Dr Owen :

2. TSH thyroid blood test

Dr Owen :

3. Be patient

Dr Owen :

4. and also make sure you are taking Prenatal vitamins now so that when you do get pregnant - your body will be ready to support your pregnancy

Dr Owen :

I wish you well

Customer: Ok, do you think I should do another test after 10 days to double check. I have been taking vitamins. But I have pain on my sides for some time now and it's worrying
Dr Owen :

you can do another urine test early next week too

Dr Owen :

do not worry about the pain -

Dr Owen :

this is common - could be a simple ovarian cyst called a Corpus luteum cyst that produces progesterone

Dr Owen :

so do not worry

Customer: Ok thank you so much.
Dr Owen :

you are welcome

Dr Owen :
