Dr Owen :

Customer:

Why is it growing! I dont believe it is a skin tag

Customer:

or an ingrown hair

Customer:

It has just appeared

Dr Owen :

Since you are shaving - this is a folliculitis - and yes this is an ingrown hair - when you shave - the hair that remains has Staph bacteria - we all have staph on our body - so when that hair retracts under the skin - it can cause a small infection

Dr Owen :

It is growing because of the infection

Dr Owen :

so you can open this - but you might need an antibiotic IF it gets bigger with a medication such as Bactrim

Customer:

But I dont shave there

Dr Owen :

From the picture - there is some shaving in that area -

Dr Owen :

I see this really everyday - this is a folliculitis

Dr Owen :

nothing serious -

Customer:

ok thank you

Customer:

should I take Ibuporfen

Dr Owen :

you are very welcome

Dr Owen :

You can take ibuprofen

Dr Owen :

KEEP the area clean

Dr Owen :

try a topical antibiotic such as Polysporine, neosporin, Bacitracin or Bactroban

Dr Owen :

I wish you well
