Hi there, I hope you can reassure me. My last started

Resolved Question:

Hi there, I hope you can reassure me. My last period started on the 1st of June. As of today (3rd July) I've still not had a period. I haven't had full intercourse in a while, however my partner and I were intimate just over 2 weeks ago. We didn't have full sex however the tip of his penis may have made contact with me. I did a home pregnancy test today and it came back negative. What are the chances of me being pregnant? I came off the pill about 4 months ago, and a couple of weeks ago I had tonsillitis and took a course of pencillin, I wondered maybe if that had affected my cycle? I'm not hoping to be pregnant right now.

Thanks

Customer:

Hi there

Dr Owen :

When was your period suppose to arriver/ start?

Customer:

I think it should have started about 3 or 4 days ago

Dr Owen :

and the pregnancy test was negative today?

Customer:

yes

Dr Owen :

what was the name of the test?

Customer:

It was a supermarket brand

Dr Owen :

okay

Dr Owen :

I would use a name brand test such as Clear Blue, EPT, and First Response

Dr Owen :

and if that test is still negative, then you are definitely not pregnant.

Dr Owen :

More than likely even with a negative supermarket brand test you are NOT pregnant.

Customer:

I've had mild symptoms that my period is about to start, do you think the penicillin could maybe have affected it?

Dr Owen :

Penicillin does not affect your period

Dr Owen :

and does not affect you since you have been off the pill for more than 4 months

Dr Owen :

so You probably just missed Ovulation this cycle and hence missed a period

Customer:

is that something I should be worried about?

Dr Owen :

no, nothing to worry about

Customer:

ok
