Hi, My is absent for two months and I am not pregnant.

Resolved Question:

Hi,
My period is absent for two months and I am not pregnant. As an educated person I know that once the hormonal balance is disrupted a woman's health deteriorates.
Therefore I am looking for some medication that will bring me my hormonal balance and subsequently my period as well. I am otherwise a very healthy person with a full life and would not mind to have more children too. I have asked my GP and they want me to have a menopause refusing to give me any medication. I am 48 y.o. Please help.
Ideally suggestions of a "beginners" HRT would be good.
Thank you,
Natalia

Dr Owen :

Hello

Dr Owen :

I see you are 48, may I ask why you are wanting to bring on your period again.

Dr Owen :

You can always force a period, but you will not be able to ovulate - the reason you are not having a period is because you are no longer ovulating

Customer:

Because I want to prolong my health and fertility and youth.

Dr Owen :

okay

Dr Owen :

do you have any medical problems?

Dr Owen :

do you smoke

Customer:

no

Dr Owen :

do you have any history of blood clots?

Customer:

no

Dr Owen :

then what you should do is use an estrogen patch such as climara or vivelle -

Customer:

where do you get that?

Dr Owen :

and then use Progesterone pills such as prometrium for 10 days every month (this is to prevent any uterine endometrial cancer).

Dr Owen :

You will need a prescription from your doctor

Customer:

would this bring my period back?

Dr Owen :

yes it will cause you to have a period every month

Customer:

how can I convince my GP to give me that?

Dr Owen :

so that is all you need to do

Dr Owen :

You just need to tell your gp you want these hormones

Dr Owen :

and since you are young (and close to menopause) then hormones are actually beneficially to you due to the WHI (Women's Health Initiative ) Study - that is all you have to say

Customer:

just tell her the names of the medication you have given?

Customer:

ok, I will try that again, thank you very much.

Dr Owen :

you are welcome

Dr Owen :

yes just tell the names of what I told you

Dr Owen :

please click on EXCELLENT

Dr Owen :

thank you

Customer:

ok, byee
