Customer Question

Hi, I'm 10 weeks pregnant and in Australia, I was given the usual tests (fbc etc) when I found out I was pregnant but I was ill during my 3-4th week of pregnancy with sore throat, cough etc. I am worried it was cmv? Would my initial tests have shown cmv at all? I am very concerned. Thank you

Dr. K. :

Hello, this is Dr K.. Answers are not medical advice and do not constitute a doctor/patient relationship. I look forward to helping you today.

Dr. K. :

No routine tests do not include cmv.

Dr. K. :

This is only tested for if a problem is found at your initial ultrasound

Dr. K. :

About 50 percent of adults have cmv antibodies.

Dr. K. :

Its too late to be tested for igm antibodies that are produced with an acute infection.

Dr. K. :

I would not be concerned

JACUSTOMER-4aks73ss- : What would show on an ultrasound? I have only had a scan at my obgyn
Dr. K. :

Nothing would show at 10 weeks
