Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

this brown discharge most likely is due to old blood from cervical trauma from sexual activity. or it could be from ovulation mucus.

Dr. David :

have you been sexually active recently?

Customer: Two days prior to having the brown spotting
Customer: Do u think I might have cervical cancer
Dr. David :

no, you don't have cervical cancer

Dr. David :

cervical cancer doesn't cause brown spotting.

Dr. David :

cervical cancer is also very very rare

Dr. David :

have you been sexually active recently?

Dr. David :

this brown discharge most likely is due to old blood from cervical trauma from sexual activity. or it could be from ovulation mucus.

Customer: I've never had it before in the middle of my cycle it's always been 1 day before my period starts and a day or two after it's finished but this has happened first time and everything I read in the internet has scared me do much am getting depressed
Dr. David :

don't be scared.

Dr. David :

reading the internet can often worsen your anxiety.

Dr. David :

you didn't answer my question.

Customer: What is ovulation mucus
Dr. David :

have you been sexually active recently?

Dr. David :

during ovulation, you can have thicker mucus around your cervix

Dr. David :

this thicker mucus can come out as brown discharge.

Customer: I was sexually active on Sunday then the spitting started in Tuesday
Customer: Cud it b my body might b changing now tht am reaching 32 years
Customer: Are u still there
Dr. David :

I bet your sexual activity caused some trauma to the cervix

Dr. David :

and that is why you are having a bit of brown discharge now.

Customer: Should I go to see a doctor
Dr. David :

yes, if you are sexually active, you should be getting a gyn examination once a year.

Dr. David :

when was your last gyn examination?

Dr. David :

you need a pap smear and vaginal exam by your gyn doctor

Dr. David :

or your GP.

Customer: I have had two smear test in the last 3 years both wer normal I have had a examination at the doctors clinic where she inserted her fingers in the Virginia 6 weeks ago she didn't see anything abnormal
Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

that is good

Dr. David :

you don't have cervical cancer.

Dr. David :

they would have seen cervical cancer if you had it.

Dr. David :

the sexual activity on sunday caused the brown discharge.

Customer: I went to gp for the same thing six weeks ago and it's not happened since then it's just happened again a few days ago
Customer: How wud there hav seen cervical cancer without a colonoscopy
Dr. David :

cervical cancer is in the cervix, not the colon.

Dr. David :

pap smear testing takes cells from the cervix looking for early cervical cancer cells

Dr. David :

vaginal finger examinations feels the cervix to feel for abnormalities.

Dr. David :

a colonoscopy looks in the colon for colon cancer.

Customer: Can you please tell me is it normal to have trauma after sexual activity all the time
Dr. David :

it is normal to have bleeding and brown discharge a few days after sex

Dr. David :

this is very common

Dr. David :

the penis hits the cervix repeatedly during intercourse.

Dr. David :

and this can cause trauma and bleeding later on.

Customer: But can this happen after sex all the time even though I have been with the same partner since 9 years and it didn't happen before it's only started happening since the last few months
Dr. David :

it doesn't happen all the time

Dr. David :

it depends on the sex

Dr. David :

but when it happens, it is normal

Dr. David :

and not from cervical cancer.

Dr. David :

does this help?

Dr. David :

do you have other questions?

Dr. David :

it sounds like you are still anxious.

Dr. David :

but don't be worried.

Dr. David :

you have had recent vaginal exams recently.

Dr. David :

you don't have to be worried about cervical cancer.

Customer: Very stressed about it all I've read so much on internet it's really scared me
Dr. David :

you need to stop reading on the internet.

Dr. David :

the internet doesn't have a license to practice medicine.

Dr. David :

it has never treated a patient or done a gyn examination before.

Customer: It says brown virginal discharge is a cause for concern on the internet
Dr. David :

that is not what I say 2-3 days after intercourse

Dr. David :

in a patient who has had recent pap smear exams and recent finger examinations 6 weeks ago.

Dr. David :

if you want, go see your doctor again

Dr. David :

and get another examination

Dr. David :

but I bet everything will be fine.

Dr. David :

do you have a history of excessive anxiety ?

Dr. David :

do you ever take medications for excessive anxiety?

Customer: Ok thank u I will stop reading on the internet and go see my gp to put my mind at rest
Dr. David :

good

Dr. David :

don't forget to leave positive feedback below when done

Dr. David :

we only get credit for helping clients after positive feedback

Customer: No I don't suffer frm anxiety
