Customer Question

I have a 2005 1.6 allure diesel coupe. I was changeing from 4 to 5 and accelerating when a message said " antipolution fault " and the engine died. I pulled over and restarted the car as normal and oriceeded home about a 5 mile run. Should I seek advice please?

Hello. My name is Mark and I will assist you with this.

Mark :

I would advise you have it checked as soon as possible.

Mark :

This could be a partially blocked dpf (Diesel Particulate Filter).

Mark :

This is located in the exhaust system.

Mark :

Normally it would clean itself when you are driving at speed on a motorway.

Mark :

If it doesn't regenerate then it can become blocked and cut the engine power. If it becomes severely blocked then it might need to be replaced which can be expensive.

Mark :

Having the car connected to a scan tool should indicate the cause of the fault.

it has been suggested that if i switch on and while the engine is running in neutral, if the antipolution fault message is not maintained i need not be concerned. is that correct?
