no just sitting in traffic sounded like its in engine mechanic couldn't hear noise so couldn't diagnose he said engine looked fine
Hi..there sorry for the delay..and getting back to me..
Ok..Usually with any sort intermittent noise those are usually the hardest to diagnose really..With such noise as you describe the usually areas to check would be for any loose wise around the engine bay metallic maybe exhaust heatshields as such up at the front end of the engine itself..or anything missing etc..as long as nothing is actually at fault in regards to the timing belt pulleys etc.the auxillary belt and pulleys on that ..I cant see it being anything mechanical in regards to the engine itself as i would imagine the fault you describe would be evident all the time..if its coolant system related then of course too that would be evident aswell with the engine having overheating issues i would imagine also..maybe have them inspect the engine mounts might one area to consider.the security of the exhaust system/and heat deflector shields and or any obvious problems suspension wise on the front..if the car has air conditioning then maybe switch that on and see if that produces the noise maybe due to a fault air con pump clutch pulley thats one thing to maybe try and see if that shows up anything.maybe check the radiator fan to be sure that not the culprit /maybe during sitting in traffic "depending how long your where sitting in it of course" that may of kicked in,,so certainly have check of that too - without any exact location as such or any obvious knock on effects from this problem as far as you can tell yourself its generally going to be hard to pin it im afraid..so amybe have a check of the few things above if it hasnt been done so already..i do hope this helps..If you need to ask anything else or include further info then just continue before you rate..
