Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will try help you with this.
The first thing to do is completely flush the cooling system.
I usually flush the system using a liquid detergent and fresh water.
It can take two to three flushes to completely remove the sludge.
Next would be to pressurise the system and check for any leaks.
If you can't see any leaks but the pressure drops then it could be a faulty headgasket.
At this point you could try a sealing solution to repair the leak or choose to remove the head and replace the gasket.
thanks mark, will do that first, ...so does my engine not have an oil cooler?..reason i ask is that my old vw golf auto, had one and showed same symptoms as the peugot, replaced oil cooler, ..no more probs!, phil
This engine didn't come with an oil cooler as standard.
You can check to see if it has coolant hoses going to the area of the oil filter housing.
thanks mark, will do, and act on your advice, phil
