I have a 54 reg 206 1.6 hdi gti 110. It has had a bsi fault

Resolved Question:

I have a 54 reg 206 1.6 hdi gti 110.
It has had a bsi fault and been repaired and iv programmed it up with planet.
But it still won't start.
What I have noticed is in bsi, immobiliser, live data the bsi is not unlocking but in engine
Live data it's telling me that the engine ecu is unlock and the correct signal was received.
What I need to now is, should the bsi read unlocked and at what point does it unlock?

Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will try help you with this.

Mark :

Does the immobiliser LED go out when you put ignition on?

Customer:

Yes it does

Customer:

Should the bsi read locked or unlocked with ignition on?

Customer:

I have pics of live data if helpful?

Customer:

Are you still there Mark?

Mark :

ok

Customer:

Are you a peugeot tec?

Mark :

I do all makes

Customer:

Are you familiar with peugeot planet and the bsi settings?

Mark :

Not with planet, I use Autel

Customer:

Ok

Customer:

What about peugeot bsi immobiliser settings?

Mark :

Have you tried resetting the BSi manually?

Customer:

Yes

Mark :

1. Disconnect the diagnostic tool.
2. Put the driver’s window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all
equipment is switched off.
3. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the
ignition.
4. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait
15 seconds.
5. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do
not open doors.)
6. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
7. Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality.
8. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
9.remove key open & close door test central locking system
10. Start the engine and complete the system’s check.
Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many
BSI related items.

Mark :

This method?

Customer:

Yes mate

Customer:

My question was should the bsi be locked or unlocked with ignition on?

Mark :

Does the immobiliser LED go out?

Customer:

If you are not a peugeot tec or have been then I think you will know the answer!

Mark :

Does the immobiliser LED go out?

Customer:

Yes the light goes out.

Mark :

The BSi should be unlocked if the led is out?

Mark :

Do you have the car security card?

Customer:

So if it's not unlocked when led out, is that a hardware issue?

Mark :

Is the bsi the original one for the car?

Customer:

Asking as sent bsi of to be tested, no fault found but they virgin it just in case. It would then not store data so sent it back, they repaired that but have problem now.

Customer:

Yes its the original

Mark :

What was the original fault that it was sent away for.

Customer:

Car was not starting so did bsi reset, car started doing lots of things like wipers on but no key in ignition, and lost all come with car for diagnostic.

Mark :

Did the car start after the reset?

Customer:

No, original fault was air in fuel line for it not starting. Changed fuel loom under bonnet and started.

Customer:

Turned it of and would not restart.

Customer:

Found diesel leak from pressure sensor on common rail so fitted new sensor and seal.

Customer:

Still would not start. New crank and cam sensor so am getting sink.

Customer:

Engine ecu test ok

Mark :

Do you have the vehicle security code?

Customer:

Have tried a new under bonet fuse board as no voltage at injectors but I believe there is no voltage because bsi is not unlocking?

Mark :

Do you have the vehicle security code?

Customer:

Yes its all been reprogrammed, I did it myself as planet sets up a blank bsi for you, all I had to do was input VIN and the security code.

Mark :

And does it recognise the keys.

Customer:

Yes both keys programmed and recognised

Mark :

But the bsi still shows locked?

Customer:

That's right

Mark :

Must be a faulty unit.

Customer:

Though engine ecu is unlocking

Mark :

Could be software or hardware

Mark :

It should show unlock on the bsi

Mark :

Has the engine ecu ever been recoded?

Customer:

That's what I fault!

Customer:

So bsi is stopping voltage to injectors?

Mark :

bsi is immobilising engine ecu

Customer:

No engine ecu is in original state, just tested by bba reman.

Mark :

bba are not the best. Lot of trade don't use them.

Customer:

Though engine ecu is unlocking and saying ready to start engine!

Mark :

Cause more faults than they fix

Customer:

So I'm finding out!!!

Customer:

Who would you recommend?

Mark :

did bba do both the bsi and engine ecu at the same time?

Customer:

No engine ecu first and then I tried bsi reset which caused problems. So then send it to get tested!!

Mark :

I think I would send them both units and get them to match them up.

Mark :

There is some sort of mismatch between them.

Customer:

They are matched according to planet, live data says ecu matched and correct signal received to unlock ecu!!

Mark :

Bsi is still saying it is locked.

Mark :

I just wonder if bba unlocked engine ecu to disable immobiliser function?

Customer:

That's right, that's why I think bsi is still faulty

Mark :

I would send them both units and get them to match them up.

Mark :

Or at least tell you one of them is faulty.

Customer:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bsi is the immobiliser and controls the ecu for starting

Mark :

yes

Mark :

it recognises the key and unlocks

Customer:

Thank you mark you have confirmed my thoughts.

Mark :

No problem

Mark :

You have a bit of a nightmare there.

Customer:

I will get back to bba reman and kick ass

Mark :

lol

Customer:

Tell me about it, I was trying to fix on drive for a month before I took car to a mate of mine who's a diesel specialist and im working on it there.

Mark :

Taking up his space. Bet he's happy.

Mark :

Please remember to rate my assistance.

Mark :

Thanks
