Hi..there..

Blue smoke doesnt sound good - make a quick check and esure the oil level is correct also check within the intake/intercooler hoses and makes ure their is no oil in there..and light mist coating is acceptable due to oil mist that naturally get into those hoses..but if its soaking in oil then you have a problem..most likely turbo seal failure..but if your having a hard time getting it started cold..then normally id say it likely down to fuel pressure issue as HDI's are very sensistive to loss of pressure or likely a duff injector...id say the best step form here is to get the injectors tested/leakdown test..see what shows up..provided the fuel system/connections and leak off pipes between the injectors arent leaking..id say that the injectors would be worth getting tested..a diesel specialist would likely check that for you.... I wouldnt go straight to glowplugs as some people would asume as HDI's especially on 07 plate or newer dont generally need the use of glowplugs on cold starting unless the outside temperature is way well below freezing..and due to high pressure these fuel systems work at they normally start up on the first turn of the key anyway...I do hope this helps
